Avaliable For Hire

I am available for contract Ruby on Rails website development, consulting and/or mentoring.

I primarily focus on high quality code, simplification, scalability and performance – all the big buzz words.
My focus is in the back-end of a website’s code and the back-end Linux infrastructure supporting the website.
I don’t really do the front end html/css/js but I can if necessary – or I can find someone that does.

I primarily focus on high quality code, simplification, scalability and performance – all the big buzz words. My focus is in the back-end of a website’s code and the back-end Linux infrastructure supporting the website. I don’t really do the front end html/css/js but I can if necessary – or I can find someone that does.

I’m currently doing three main types of work:

  • building the back-end to websites – be it the business logic, the infrastructure or both.
  • optimizing existing sites – ensuring that the site scales, checking code quality, reducing bottle necks etc
  • mentoring staff and providing technical advise for decision making

In terms of my immediate work history the following Ruby on Rails based jobs stand out:

  • providing mentoring and technical expertise to ProjectX (CTO)
  • I was brought in as a technical expert to optimise Beetil and provide general mentoring for YouDo
  • involved in building, launching and maintaining Ponoko featured on TechCrunch (CTO)
  • and earlier on setup www.hirethings.co.nz (Development Manager)

I’ve been professionally in the coding business for over 13 years and run the Wellington Ruby on Rails user group - WellRailed.

To keep my skills and expertise relevant I am developing a massively multiplayer turn based strategy game which has a fat Javascript front end and Ruby on Rails backend.

As I am Wellington NZ based my ideal situation is working from here, although obviously I can travel as needed.

I can be contacted via my gmail account which is my name, Nahum Wild, separated by a full stop.
