Avaliable For Hire

I am available for contract Ruby on Rails website development.

My primary focus is in the back-end of a website’s code. If you know a little about Rails, I don’t often do the html/css part of the views as I don’t specialise in that - but can do it if really neccessary or find someone that does. Additionally I focus on the back-end Linux infrastructure supporting the website.

Presently I’m doing a lot of work where either the site already exists and they need someone to go and in and make sure it can scale, checking code quality, optimising bottle necks etc.. Or actually building in the back-end to websites, be it all the business logic or just the infrastructure. I also mentor / manage others doing those tasks.

Basically, I primarily focus on high quality code, simplification, scalability and performance - all the big buzz words.

I’m Wellington, New Zealand based, so my ideal situation is working from here, although obviously I can travel as needed. I tend to work on multiple projects at once rather than being tied to one thing at a time.

In terms of my immediate history, I’ve successfully built, launched and maintained the TechCrunch featured www.ponoko.com (CTO) and earlier on www.hirethings.co.nz (Dev Manager) - both Ruby on Rails based.  I’ve been professionally in the coding business for over 13 years and run the Wellington Ruby on Rails user group - WellRailed.

I can be contacted here or via my gmail account which is my name, Nahum Wild, separated by a full stop.
